The Good News About Jesus

"For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve"
(1 Corininthians 15:3-5).

DEATH: Jesus, the Son of God, died on a cross as the ultimate sacrifice to atone for the sins of all mankind (Romans 3:23-25; Hebrews 1:9-10).

BURIAL: Jesus' body was placed in a tomb, where it lay for three days (Luke 23:50-56).

RESURRECTION: The Father did not abandon Jesus to the grave; He raised Him up on the third day (Acts 2:24-32). God, through Jesus, had now conquered both of humanity's problems: sin and death (1 Corinthians 15:21).

APPEARANCES: Jesus' chosen witnesses, the apostles (Acts 1:1-3, 8), are the reason we know this good news about Jesus is true. Jesus' post-resurrection appearances to them turned them from skepticism to belief (John 20:19-31). Afterwards, they were willing to go to their deaths proclaiming that Christ had been raised (Acts 5:31-33; 21:13).
